History

When Mr Say Lip Hai arrived in Singapore from Hainan Island, he found work as a cookboy with the British troops in Sembawang learning how to prepare the perfect British Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Spurred on by his culinary success in Western fare, Mr Say opened his own restaurant, serving the British and Commonwealth troops and their families. When an impressed British housewife, Mrs Jack Hunt, suggested that he start a catering business in her husband's name, the first Jack's Place Steak House came into being in 1966.  Now the chairman of Jack's Place Holding, Mr Say has seen his honest endeavour blossom from that single steak house in Sembawang to one of the largest local restaurant chains in Singapore.

The extensive western-style menu of Jack's Place steak house is a fusion of western cooking styles and local flavours. From Singaporean favourites such as Beef Kway Teow to the creation of fusion signature dishes like Sambal Steak to complement the tantalising menu of Western-style seafood  and Western steaks dishes, Jack's Place knows how to serve up meals that Singaporeans love.
